Guy Gilchrist is the syndicated cartoonist of Nancy®, Today's Dog,Your Angels Speak, Night Lights & Fairy Flights, and Jim Henson's Muppets and a successful Songwriter and Performer living in Nashville . Guy has opened for Chris Hillman of The Byrds and The Desert Rose Band ,Little Jimmy Dickens, Jimmy C. Newman, T Graham Brown, Jeannie Seeley, Mel Tillis,  and played with Charlie Daniels, The Marshall Tucker Band, Tommy Crain, and Mandy Barnett. Guy's current  musical project is A Christmas Record  to benefit BOYSTOWN.
 

Guy's first album, a 5 song EP with all songs, words and music written and sang by Guy called "Nashville Songwriter Sessions", gathered critical acclaim, and launched his recording career with the radio hit "I DON'T NEED YOU", played on WSM in Nashville, and around the US and the world. His second  EP, "Jim Beam Me Up, Scotty" showcases his Cartoonist Sense Of Humor!  "I'm In Love With The Girl On The Cover Of Victoria's Secret",and  "Jim Beam Me Up, Scotty" were singles in 2009.  A critically acclaimed Animated Cartoon Video of JIM BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY produced by Guy and Mike Cope is one of the hottest international videos.



Guy Guest Starred on WSM's Midnight Jamboree following The Grand Ole Opry in May with Mandy Barnett, cutting up the audience with his  sense of humor and clever songs. He is currently performing on bills with such stars as Jim Ed Brown, Buddy Jewell, Tommy Cash, and Jean Shepard. Guy has been playing  songwriter's rounds with  Hitmakers such as Glen Douglas Tubb (Home Of The Blues, Skip A Rope) Jerry Foster(The Day The Earth Stood Still) and Jimmy Payne(Woman, Woman). Guy plays clubs in Nashville and is gearing up for an extended tour early next year.


He is performing, writing, and still drawing his famous cartoons for the newspaper at the same time. But...WHERE does he find the time? "In the back, under the sofa cushions....with some linty Jujubees, a Hot Wheels car, and a 1947 Mercury head Dime." Why has this artist of Muppet Babies, Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther and Looney Tunes decided to add Music and Comedy to his Life, and move to Nashville? "It's a huge part of my soul," Guy explains. "I've always considered myself a writer first and an artist second. Sometimes the art is pictures...sometimes a melody. He has always been in the business of making people laugh, enjoy themselves....and feel good. In fact, shortly before he worked for Henson on the Muppets in 1980, Guy had a near-hit record -- Number 2 in Detroit -- "Take Along My Lovin'." Guy had a Rockabilly band early on in his life, singing and swinging with rock and country songs by Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Elvis, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, and tons of the great Hank Williams. There was always a lot of Dion thrown in, too. Dion was Guy's favorite singer and songwriter, and a huge creative inspiration. "Growing up in a household where my step family was Italian in the 1960s...you just had to love Dion. He was the coolest. And for me, watching him on BandStand on our little black and white tv, and listening to him create his art with his voice and guitar showed me that one person could make art, and make the world a more beautiful place. Whether it was with my pen, my brush, or my guitar...that was what I wanted to do, too. Be a positive force in the world. Create something beautiful. Something Fun. Something that made you smile. Ray Stevens and Red Skelton showed me how great it was to make the world smile, Roy Rogers taught me how to be a good man, and Dion taught me to be an artist."
